September 20 Annual State of the District Update Luncheon

Sept. 20 Salem Community College's Dancing with the SCC Stars Scholarship Fundraiser

“Dancing with the SCC Stars” features eight community leaders

Eight community leaders are raising funds for scholarships at the Salem Community College Foundation’s “Dancing with the SCC Stars” on Friday, September 20.

The business-casual evening of fun, food and live entertainment starts at 5:30 p.m. in Salem Community College’s Davidow Hall, 460 Hollywood Ave., Carneys Point, N.J. The $100 per person donation includes a dinner buffet by DiPaolo’s, an open bar and a silent auction.

Entertainer John Monforto, well known for his Elvis and Sinatra tributes, returns as the master of ceremonies.

The Foundation collaborates with the BlueBallRoom Dance Studio and LaPierre Ballroom Dance Studio and the following community leaders:

·        BJ Ayars -- PSEG

·        Maria Fantini – Salem Community College

·        Linda Ann Gorman – Operation Warrior Resolution

·        Charlie Hassler – PSEG (retired)

·        Chris Hickey – Chemours

·        Col. Wayne McFadden – Delaware River and Bay Authority

·        Dan Neu – Mayor of Pennsville

·        Stacy Pennington – Salem County Clerk of the Board

To buy tickets and donate toward a dancer, visit www.salemcc.edu/gala.  Voting ends at midnight on Thursday, September 19. All proceeds will benefit the SCC Foundation Scholarship Fund.

An orb, "Celestial Bouquet," created and donated by world-renowned artist and SCC distinguished alumnus Paul J. Stankard, will be auctioned online along with other unique hand-crafted glass items the week of the event. For details, visit www.salemcc.edu/gala.

For sponsorship information, contact Ceil Smith at csmith@salemcc.edu

This event is made possible in part by funds from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State, a Partner Agency of the National Endowment for the Arts, through the Salem County Board of Commissioners, and the Salem County Cultural and Heritage Commission.

Sept. 27th NJBAC Presents Resources for Growth

Sept. 27th Food Bank of South Jersey's Health & Wellness Event

The Food Bank of South Jersey's Health and Wellness Department is offering another opportunity for an immersive free training called the Cost of Poverty Experience (COPE) on September 27th at the Mullica Hill Library located at 389 Wolfert Station Rd, Mullica Hill, NJ from 1 PM-3:30 PM. Our team is bringing Think Tank's Cost of Poverty Experience to organizations in our rural counties of South Jersey. We are promoting it to local organizations in Salem and Gloucester County to see if your staff or other organizations you may know, would be interested in attending.

The training is an eye-opening simulation giving attendees the chance to experience a little bit of what it is like to spend a month in the life of someone experiencing poverty. Attendees will not only leave with a better idea of the day-to-day realities, but also gain a better understanding of the complexity of the issue and rethink some of its solutions.

For more information on the program itself, you view the attached flyer as well as go to:

https://thinktank-inc.org/cope

If your organization or any one in your network would like to register, it can be done using the link below:
