Clean energy battles rise of disinformation

According to a recent report by the World Economic Forum, “misinformation and disinformation are the biggest short-term risks” to the global economy.

Clean energy myth-making is nothing new. Disinformation about wind, solar, and electric power has been spreading for over a decade. But in the past few years, the coordinated efforts to weaponize unsubstantiated information against clean energy projects are gaining traction across the country.

To help chambers combat these attacks in their communities, CICE has produced its first Clean Energy Disinformation Primer. Read it here:

CHAMBERS IN ACTION

Two chambers hold summits addressing clean energy

In the past week, two chamber-led sustainability conferences hosted business leaders to discuss trends and opportunities in clean energy. First, the Raleigh (NC) Chamber held its 2024 Sustainability Conference, and Wake County Economic Development offered their recap of the event (photo above from the recap).

Next, the Maine State Chamber of Commerce hosted its 2024 Energy Summit, including topics such as the IRA, grid modernization, the future of energy storage and EVs covered by the local news in a recap. You can listen to a conversation with chamber CEO Patrick Woodcock about the state’s energy transition on the chamber’s The Bottom Line podcast.
