MEMBER NEWS

Save the date! This Giving Tuesday, November 28th, our focus will be on the NCMC Student Emergency Fund. As we dedicate our efforts to support this essential fund, we invite you to help a student facing an unexpected financial crisis. Your donation will help students overcome unanticipated challenges and continue their education. We have had the privilege of offering support to 292 students through the Student Emergency Fund, but sadly it is not enough. We have seen a dramatic increase in need over the last year. Please consider helping a student today. Another way you can help is by being a social media advocate for NCMC in November. Share our Giving Tuesday emails and social media posts with friends to spread the word.

Earn a tuition-free North Central degree: Michigan Reconnect eligibility expands to ages 21—24!

Michigan Reconnect has expanded to temporarily lower the eligibility age from 25 to 21! Now more Michigan residents, including already enrolled community college students, can earn a North Central degree or skills certificate, tuition-free.

Michigan Reconnect is a last-dollar scholarship program that pays for you to attend your in-district community college tuition-free (or offers a large tuition discount if you attend an out-of-district community college). To be eligible, students must:

  • Apply by November 15, 2024.
  • Be at least 21 years of age and not more than 24 years of age.
  • Apply and enroll in a community or tribal college no later than fall semester 2024.
  • Complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid).
  • Have lived in Michigan for at least a year.
  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent or certificate of completion.
  • Have not yet completed a college degree.

Apply online at www.michigan.gov/reconnect or visit https://www.ncmich.edu/admissions/michigan-reconnect.html for more information.
