On Thursday, January 4, the Chamber joined key business and industry stakeholders in St. Tammany, including St. Tammany Corporation, Northshore Home Builders Association, and Northshore Business Council, to hold a policy briefing and working lunch for newly elected Parish Council members to discuss the key policy issues impacting business in our parish, including smart growth, infrastructure, permitting, and workforce housing.

On Sunday, Jeff Landry was sworn in as Louisiana's 57th governor on the steps of the state capitol building, having previously served eight years as state attorney general and two years in Congress. Click here to read more about his inauguration and here to read his 25-minute address.

His first day in office he called a Special Session of the Legislature for January 15 to draw new congressional and state Supreme Court maps and move to closed party primary elections. Click here to read more.

St. Tammany Parish President Michael Cooper was sworn in for a second term on Monday, alongside the St. Tammany Parish Council. The new members of the council who were sworn in Monday were Rick Smith, Larry Rolling, Kathy Seiden, Pat Phillips, Joe Impastato, Pat Burke, David Cougle, Jeff Corbin, and Jimmy “Gumby” Strickland.
