Regular Legislative Session Ended Yesterday

The 90-day regular legislative session ended Monday with successes and failures for just about all legislators and the governor. The biggest question when the session began in March was how would the session go with a Republican governor and Republican supermajorities in the House and Senate. Fourteen Bills Signed into Law

Last week, Gov. Landry signed 14 legislative bills into law, including SB165 by Senator McMath and SB148 by Senator Beth Mizell. Click here to learn what else he has signed into law so far this session, which ended yesterday.
Hurricane Season Could Test New Insurance Laws

Bills that Gov. Landry signed earlier this month deregulating the insurance industry could soon be put to the test if this is an active hurricane season. Click here to read more.
Supporting the Northshore
Last week your Chamber and St. Tammany leaders gathered at our State Capitol for Northshore Focus, a collaborative effort dedicated to fostering economic growth and enhancing regional connectivity.

The initiative was a partnership with the Tangipahoa Chamber and Livingston Parish Chamber of Commerce. Together, we wanted to show our collective support to our Northshore legislators and remind them how their decisions affect the local business community along the I-12 corridor.
NTCC Enjoys Its Highest Enrollment

Keith Twitchell authored a great article on Northshore Technical Community College (NTCC) in the June issue of Biz New Orleans magazine. At a time when many colleges are struggling to maintain enrollment, NTCC is nearing full capacity and looking to expand its facilities. Click here to read the article.
