Jeff Landry Opens Legislative Session with Calls for Changes

As he opened the regular legislative session last week, the Governor called to deregulate the insurance industry, authorize a special convention to rewrite the Louisiana constitution and create a voucher-like program that gives public money to families for private schools. Click here to read more.
New Parish Census Shows Population Loss Across the State

Louisiana saw its population shrink by more than 84,000 people between 2020 and 2023, including a drop of more than 14,000 last year.
Those losses were spread throughout the state. However, St. Tammany was among the bright spots, with more than 3% growth. Click here to read the full article.
Changes Planned for Louisiana Economic Development

Gov. Jeff Landry and the new secretary at Louisiana Economic Development Susan Bourgeois are revamping the agency with the aim of promoting more investment in the state. Landry's goal is to "be competitive with other states by eliminating burdensome and ineffective regulations and by streamlining economic development.” Read more here.
