Ferrymageddon:

It's Heeeeere... on Thursday

This is a friendly reminder that from 1am on Thursday morning (Sept 7) until 3am on Wednesday morning (Sept 13), Washington State Ferries will reduce service on the Bainbridge Island-Seattle route to a single boat and on that boat will not allow any cars, trucks, bicycles, or motorcycles at all.

While WSDOT conducts vital work to replace the 50-year-old overhead passenger walkway on BI, residents will need alternate ways to get into town with your vehicle, while local businesses will need new ways to get deliveries and supplies to their place of business.

Do remember that in an attempt to help, WSF will be adding a 3rd boat on the Kingston-Edmonds route for the week.

Full Details From WSDOT

Update: The KOMO News team was on the island today, making stops at Bainbridge Brewing, Pegasus Coffee House, and The Chamber to detail our preparations for ferrymageddon - see it tonight in their 5pm and 6pm newscasts and on KOMO Reporter Denise Whitaker's Facebook Feed.

Wyatt & Madison Project Development Update

Did you recently drive south on Madison Ave and wonder what is with all the construction activity happening at the corner of Wyatt?

As approved last year, Madison Avenue Development is developing an 80 unit residential community, with the majority of units ranging from 500-900 sq ft, alongside three larger townhomes and a shared clubhouse.

The development includes 13 brand new affordable units (400-500 sq ft) that will replace their aging equivalent that were formerly located on the site at 550 Madison Ave N.

Once construction is complete, the affordable units will be formally purchased and operated by Housing Resources Bainbridge to be permanently available for qualifying local tenants.

Bainbridge Arts & Crafts Celebrates 75 Years

Back in the 1970's, long-time islanders will remember BAC's "Starving Artists Cookbooks", and to commemorate the new anniversary, BAC have created a new "Thriving Artists Cookbook" to be on sale in the gallery and online to help raise funds for the organization's next 75 years!

Also available at Bainbridge Arts & Crafts, the September 1- October 1 exhibition features works by fiber artist Caroline Cooley Browne alongside handmade paper and paint pieces by Susan Singleton.
