NOLA Coalition Shares Progress on Public Safety Goal

Our Chamber is a member of the strongest regional coalition formed to address the number one issue in our city and affecting our entire region—public safety. Since its inception less than one year ago $3.7 million has been raised which is over 75% of the three-year fundraising goal to provide the New Orleans Police Department support to become fully staffed, provide constitutional policing, pay raises, technology, and real policing. Leading members of the coalition will develop a youth master plan to provide hope for the future. All will stand together as a community of businesses and charitable and service organizations to support every citizen and eradicate crime. Click here to read more.

Halie works for St. Tammany Health System and Mary works for New Orleans Firemen's Federal Credit Union. Root Causes, Solutions for Rising Cost of Homeowners and Property Insurance

Many Louisiana residents were shocked when their homeowners and property insurance renewal arrived—with premiums doubled or more—leaving unanswered questions. Why are insurers leaving Louisiana and reducing competition? How can it be fixed?

Jeff and Ben Albright with Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of Louisiana gave a great (and eye opening) presentation last week to the Advocacy and Public Policy Committee, sharing their ideas for more long-term solutions going forward.
