Paycheck Protection Program Flexibility Act (PPPFA) Passed
President Trump signed the bipartisan Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) Flexibility Act earlier today. This legislation makes the following changes to the PPP program for small businesses:

  • Extends the expense forgiveness period from eight weeks to twenty-four weeks
  • Reduces the 75 percent payroll ratio requirement
  • Eliminates 2-year loan repayment restrictions for future borrowers
  • Allows payroll tax deferment for PPP recipients
  • Extends the June 30 rehiring deadline

More than 50 trade associations representing America’s small businesses supported the legislation. View the full text here.

The Roanoke Regional Small Business Development Center continues to offer 1-1 advising sessions to help business owners navigate the PPP, loan forgiveness, and other COVID-19 related issues. Schedule a session here.

Women of the Chamber Webinar
For our second Women of the Chamber of 2020, we're excited to be joined by Caitlyn Scaggs, Associate Vice President and Spokesperson for Radford University.

How should you react when presented with a once-in-a-century worldwide pandemic causing unexpected personal and professional turmoil? There might not be a one size fits all answer to that question, but in most cases, perspective makes all the difference.

One day you're a working mom balancing everyday responsibilities, and the next day you're a working mom and teacher juggling those same responsibilities. Our speaker found herself in this situation back in early March. You may have seen her featured in a recent WDBJ7 segment.

We hope to see you on June 16 as Caitlyn shares her experiences, encourages attendees to shift their perspective, and helps uncover opportunities hidden in plain sight.

When: Tuesday, June 16, 2020
Login Open: 11:45 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Program: Noon - 1 p.m.
Location: Virtual on Zoom
Cost: $10/member
Two Months of Chamber Chats
As we look back on two months of our Chamber Chat segment, we're also starting to look forward. Beginning next month, Membership Monday will return. These segments will be recorded onsite at member locations just like they were before. Chamber Chat isn't going anywhere, though.

While many of the changes caused by COVID-19 were temporary, the flexibility and ease of use of video-conferencing software remains. We may scale back Chamber Chat to only one or two days a week, but the segment will live on!

Don't forget, you can now watch all of our past Chamber Chats on the Chamber website. This week, we were joined by:
