SLEEPY HOLLOW CEMETERY ENHANCEMENTS

As part of its 20th year-long Anniversary Celebration, The Friends of Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, Inc. has donated two permanent giftings to the Cemetery which are now prominently installed. In doing so, the Board of Directors has once again given substance to its Mission of the enhancement, beautification, and advancement of the historic burial grounds.

One gift in place is a solid set of metal bollards in front of the Melvin Memorial, “Mourning Victory,” The aim is to distinguish and to set-off the Memorial in a full respectful manner.

Most recently, the lettering “Sleepy Hollow” has been positioned

on the entrance gates to The Knoll section of the Cemetery. This gift further supports the identification of that portion of the Cemetery as well as historically replicating in hand-fashioned design the original lettering that once graced the main Pritchard Gate.

The Directors fully acknowledge and value the organization’s many local and long-distance donors, as well as the collaboration with the Town’s Cemetery Committee and Town Departments, in support of their work.
