SUPPLIER DIVERSITY PROGRAM 101
VA'S MINIMUM WAGE INCREASED MAY 1
A reminder for our business community that the state’s minimum wage increased from $7.25 to $9.50 per hour as of May 1, 2021.

House Bill 395 and Senate Bill 7 also raised the minimum wage to $11 per hour on January 1, 2022, and to $12 per hour one year later on January 1, 2023.

BLUEPRINT VA REGIONAL MEETING TOUR
The Blueprint Virginia 2030 Regional Tour meeting for our region is taking place on May 26, 2021! Register today and ensure your voice is heard as part of the Blueprint Virginia 2030 development process. Those who register will be invited to participate in the Blueprint Virginia 2030 Regional Tour survey. 

These meetings will serve to foster greater regional collaboration by bringing together leaders in business, economic development, workforce, education, housing, and other community representatives from across the Commonwealth to provide input for Virginia’s next statewide strategic plan. 

Participants will have the opportunity to hear directly from Barry DuVal and our partners from GO Virginia for an exclusive economic update presentation from both the statewide and regional perspectives. The initial results for the Regional Tour survey will be reviewed during each meeting. Most importantly, participants will have the opportunity to participate in an open dialogue to discuss policy recommendations for the final plan.

LEADERSHIP SOUTHSIDE
Leadership Southside applications are now being accepted for the 2021/2022 year! After taking a year off due to the pandemic, we are so excited to be back.

Hosted by the Danville Pittsylvania County Chamber of Commerce, Leadership Southside develops participants' leadership skills to strengthen their role as an individual, professional, and community member. 

Sessions are held on the third Tuesday of each month from August 2021-April 2022. Sessions typically run from 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. At this time, we hope to hold our sessions in person, but will evaluate prior to each session. 
SAVE THE DATE FOR CHAMBER CLASSIC GOLF TOURNAMENT!
This year, the 31st Annual Laurie S. Moran Chamber Classic Golf Tournament will be hosted on Friday, October 22, 2021.

Sponsorship and registration will open in June!
THE CHAMBER IS HEADED TO SPAIN!
The Chamber is coordinating a trip to Spain and the Sunny Costa del Sol with an optional two-night extension tour to Madrid! We will depart on March 23, 2022 for 7 nights at a 4 star hotel. The cost for the trip is $3,099. The optional two-night tour to Madrid is an additional $599.*

Registration will open soon and more details to come closer to our first informational meeting taking place this summer!
*This international trip is dependent on COVID-19 guidelines and restrictions.
