Wine & Dessert

Saturday, March 16,

7:30 - 10:00 pm

SipStirs (Wilton and Darien) will lead the tasting, showcasing a variety of "hidden gem" wines ($15 - $30/btl).

You will be able to buy cases of the wines being sampled. And since Passover is approaching, they will bring recommendations for Passover wines (and will donate 10% of any Passover wine sales to TBC).

Desserts will be provided by our congregational baking gems - perhaps you are one of those gems! If so, please let us know when you respond.

There is an $18 charge per person - payable at the door that evening. Cash or click here for the invitation!

In the Book of Esther, two of the mitzvot that are associated with Purim are the sending of gifts of food and the giving of tzedakah. In verse 9:22 of the book of Esther it says: "[Mordechai wrote to the Jews] to observe the days as days of feasting and joy and giving presents of food to one another and gifts to the poor."

At TBC, we combine these 2 mitzvot into our Shalach Manot fundraiser, a fun way to support TBC by sending gifts to friends, as well as TBC clergy, staff, teachers and B'nai Mitzvah coaches.

Please join us in celebrating Purim through this annual tradition!

Each Shalach Manot bag will be filled with festive food and other items to create a fun Purim celebration.

If you would like to send to all TBC members, there are multiple sponsorship levels of giving opportunities. Each level sends one bag to every TBC member family, clergy, staff, teacher and B'nai Mitzvah coach.

The Whole Megillah - $1,000

• The Royal Shushan Society - $540

• The Courtier - $360

• The Gates of Mordechai - $180

Or send individual bags as in the past:

Bags for TBC member families are $15

• Bags for TBC clergy, staff, teachers & B'nai Mitzvah coaches are $10

• Bags for non-TBC members are $15 and must be delivered by you

If a TBC member family has been chosen by more than one friend, they will receive one bag with a note listing all the donors.

When you order your Shalach Manot you will have the opportunity to select “reciprocate”, which means that we will send a bag on your behalf to anyone that sends to you.

The deadline for orders is Tuesday, March 12th! Click here to order

Thanks for your support of TBC!

PLEASE volunteer for the Purim Carnival on Sunday, March 24th! Contact Morah Ellie.

Save the Date, April 6th! TBC's Long-Awaited Progressive Dinner!

Our new, improved TBC Progressive Dinner is on the calendar for April 6th. If you would like to sponsor and host a dinner at your house (it's fun!) or help with hors d'oeuvres and desserts at the temple, please email Jane Alexander or Joe Sondheimer. If you are excited for a fun evening of good food and conversation with your TBC family, just mark your calendars.

We will meet at the Temple for hors d'oeuvres, spread out to host homes for dinner, then meet back at the Temple for dessert. Attendees, other than dinner hosts, will bring either an hors d'oeuvres or dessert. We will try to accommodate allergies or dietary restrictions, dependent on hosts. More details and an invitation to follow!

Sophie Barenberg's Annual Toy Drive for Yale New Haven Hospital's Toy Closet!

"Hi all! My name is Sophie Barenberg and I am a Senior at Weston High School and a “graduate” of TBC RS. Starting when I was 12 when I did my Mitzvah project, I have been organizing a toy drive for the Yale New Haven Hospital Toy Closet, an organization near and dear to my heart. I usually organize this toy drive around the holidays, but due to my busy schedule in December, I decided to do the Toy Drive during Valentine’s Day. I have a collection bin at the Temple and would greatly appreciate your donations. Donations include new and unwrapped toys from ages birth to teen. Thank you!"

It is traditional to light a memorial candle at home on the eve of the yahrzeit. You may also find it meaningful while kindling the yahrzeit candle to offer prayers of remembrance or reflect on your loved one’s life. Many also choose this time to make monetary donations in memory of loved ones

Yahrzeit Memorial Plaques

When remembering loved ones who have passed away, we invite you to commemorate their lives and blessings with a memorial plaque for the TBC wall of remembrance. Ordering information is available here.

A reminder that the Federation for Jewish Philanthropy of Upper Fairfield County schedules a variety of programs that TBC members will find interesting.
