In the book of Esther, two of the mitzvot that are associated with Purim are the sending of gifts of food and the giving of tzedakah. In verse 9:22 of the book of Esther it says: [Mordechai wrote to the Jews] "to observe the days as days of feasting and joy, give presents of food to one another and gifts to the poor." More Information Here!

TBC Social Action Initiatives Update!

Our three TBC Social Action Groups have been busy identifying and planning action initiatives for the next several months. Events being planned include: a "Town Hall" on women's reproductive and health rights, a TBC brunch and panel discussion for parents and congregants about strategies for preventing gun violence, and an antisemitism and hate crimes "Teach-In" in collaboration with other regional synagogues and faith organizations.

Minutes and updates from recent meeting are available at these links:

AID FOR TÜRKIYE (TURKEY) AND SYRIA

As we all know, a series of earthquakes have devastated southeastern Turkey and northern Syria. Over 40,000 casualties have been reported. Please join us in contributing to relief for the victims through one of the following organizations:

IsraAID's team is on the ground, distributing urgently needed relief and winter items and assess broader emergency needs in affected communities.

The Multifaith Alliance is prioritizing the distribution of the following throughout northwest Syria: Essential medicines, medical supplies, emergency food relief, warm clothing.

American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC) is focusing on the most urgent needs, providing temporary shelter, heating, thermal clothes, food, and medical support to the most vulnerable victims in Turkey.

United Hatzalah of Israel is sending medical supplies and relief teams consisting of crisis responders, doctors, paramedics, and EMTs to help the thousands in need in Turkey.

Yahrzeit Memorial Plaques

When remembering loved ones who have passed away, we invite you to commemorate their lives and blessings with a memorial plaque for the TBC wall of remembrance. Ordering information is available here.

Ten Minutes of Torah!

The Union for Reform Judaism (URJ) provides rich resources for Torah study from a Reform perspective. Their Torah Study website includes "The Torah Explained," "Torah Portion Calendar" and an overview of each week's Torah portion.

In addition, several days a week, the URJ publishes Ten Minutes of Torah. Join the thousands of others who open their email to study a commentary on the week's Torah portion, read about a significant moment in Jewish history, connect with life in Israel, or learn about an upcoming holiday. In just ten minutes, you can add to your Jewish knowledge.
