Mr. Nachshon Wyma

In honor of his father's 6th yahrzeit (4 Iyar)

“There are seven types of thief: and the first, most severe of them all, is the one who steals the mind of another. (Tosefta, Bava Kama 7:3)” In Shmuel II 15:6, we learn of Avshalom, son of King David. In an attempt to gain the favor of the Jewish people with

the goal of usurping his father’s throne, Avshalom makes a habit of flattering the people who come to Jerusalem for an audience with his father. When, in the fullness of time, he feels he has connived enough popular support, he rips apart the peace of

Israel and initiates a civil war.

We were honored to have Avrumy Davis, Rabbi Davis brother, who is a Chayal speak about his time fighting in the IDF since October 7th. He talked about 3 of his friends who have died since then.

Such a meaningful Yom HaZikaron Celebration!!

Every year on Yom HaZikaron we spend time learning about the lives of Israeli soldiers who have died. This year we focused on soldiers who have died since October 7th. Rabbi Moshe and Shayna Davis, Morah Tamar, Morah Chana and Rachel and Yael put together a beautiful, meaningful and emotional program led by our High Schoolers to honor the memories of these soldiers.

Our Tekes Maavar began with sadness as we told the stories and gave honor to the soldiers who have died since October 7th. It was very special and powerful to have a Chayal with us throughout. He said some of the tefillot for soldiers and for Israel then raised the flag from half to full mast so we could begin the celebration. Students from grades K - 12 performed skits, songs and dances celebrating Israel. We davened Maariv Chagigit. Dancing and refreshments followed… and finally dancing and celebrating ! The celebrating continued the next day with davening with Hallel, dancing and Israel related activities. Thank you to Rabbi Moshe and Morah Shayna Davis, Morah Tamar, Morah Chana, Morah Keren, Mr. Digadker, Morah Sari and the head of the department Morah Dafna with additional thanks to Morah Lisi and Morah Rachel, Rabbi Strosberg, Mrs. Strosberg and Mr. Kotsias who also helped with our Yom Haatzmaut program!! Thank you Mrs. D, Rabbi Leib, and Ms. Gardin and all of our teachers who helped make Yom HaAtzmaut so fun!!

Our ECC students had a busy day celebrating Yom HaAtzmaut as they learned about Israel through an archeological dig, put notes at the Kotel, milked cows and shear wool from sheep in a kibbutz, bought treats at the shuk, learned about Sink and Float at the Dead Sea, and enjoyed blue and white cookies.

Dr. Levisohn welcomed everyone , Rabbi Morris, our Rav Bet Sefer, offered words of Torah and Brachot to the students. The students demonstrated just some of what they have learned this year before receiving their chumashim from Rabbi Leib. Yasher Koach to Morah Rikki with appreciation to Mrs. Downs, Rabbi Strosberg, Mrs. D, Rachel and Yael. Mrs. Mio, Mr. Digadker, Mrs. Hager and Ms Alliyah.
