PARSHAT YITRO

Rabbi Aaron Leib

Hearing and Listening

"Yitro, the minister of Midyan, the father-in-law of Moshe, heard all that G-d did to Moshe and to Israel, his people – that Hashem took Israel out of Egypt."

In the first pasuk of the parsha, we are told that Yitro had heard what happened and was so inspired that he decided to come and join the Jewish people. Rashi asks what was it, in particular, that made Yitro come? He explains that he had heard about the splitting of the sea and about the battle with Amalek.

YUNMUN

YUNMUN (The Yeshiva University National Model United Nations) is a student-run simulation of the workings of the real United Nations that gives students an opportunity to experience and learn about the complex landscape of international diplomacy. Playing the roles of delegates to actual United Nations member nations, ( this year Ethiopia and Thailand) participants represent a variety of positions, often ones with which they may not agree. In advocating for a given country, students must research that country's interests and policies across a wide range of issues and concerns.
