Come for a Sail on Mystic Whaler and help Support Experiential Education for Local Youth!

March brings two wonderful opportunities to set sail on the schooner Mystic Whaler from Channel Islands Harbor. On Sunday, March 17, from 1 pm until 4 pm, and Saturday, March 23, from 10:30 am until 1:30 pm, Mystic Whaler will be heading out for a sail in the beautiful Santa Barbara Channel.

Come aboard for what is sure to be a lovely day! Your support of Mystic Whaler's Public Day Sails helps to provide funds for experiential educational opportunities for local youth. Tickets are available for both dates here.

Mystic Whaler's Captain Christine Healy Featured in New Exhibit Celebrating Women of the Santa Barbara Harbor

Mystic Whaler's Executive Director Captain Christine Healy is featured in a new exhibit celebrating Women of the Santa Barbara Harbor at the Santa Barbara Maritime Museum. The women featured in the exhibition are breaking new ground as they strive forward in a variety of professions working in and around the ocean. The experiential education Mission of Central Coast Ocean Adventures Foundation that Captian Healy leads is certainly breaking new ground in the lives of many local youth in Santa Barbara and Ventura counties. Thank you to the Santa Barbara Maritime Museum for recognizing Captain Healy and all of the other amazing women of the Santa Barbara Harbor!

CCOAF/Mystic Whaler Joins Southern California Plankton Watch

Mystic Whaler's crew and educators received their initial training in plankton collection on February 13 as Mystic Whaler and CCOAF are now partners with Southern California Plankton Watch! We, along with local young people who come on board Mystic for experiential educational programs, will be assisting in collecting data for the Watch. This ongoing effort increases the number of eyes on the ocean for understanding changing ocean systems and early detection of blooms, and sets into place a method for rapid response.
