This week's "Glimpses of Grace" column spotlights
Mr. Gene Jordan. We dedicate each week to highlighting individuals who have been longstanding members at Central Baptist and have served diligently, ensuring that future generations benefit from their dedication.

“I accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Savior and joined Central Baptist Church on May 1, 1955. Rev. Milton Gardner baptized me on May 8, 1955. I was 10 years old. My decision to accept Christ and follow Him is the most important decision I have ever made.
My late wife, Gwen Burgamy Jordan and I were married by Rev. Ed Hurst on August 7, 1976, at the old church on South Lee Street. I have three sons, Charles, Mike and David Burgamy. I have three grandchildren, Charles, Jr., Scarlett and Joseph Wade and one great grandson, Sanders Wade. My sister and brother-in-law, Faye and Nelson McCrary are also long-time members of Central Baptist.
During my 69 years as a church member, I had the honor and privilege on different occasions to serve as a deacon, Sunday School Department Director and Sunday School teacher. Some of my fondest memories over the years at Central was teaching 11-year-old boys in what was known back then as the Junior Department in Sunday School. I enjoyed singing in the choir and I still sing in the Silvertones choir today. I also enjoyed serving on the Senior Adult Committee planning trips for our Senior Adults.

|
Leaving the old church building on South Lee Street and moving to our present location on Upper River Rd. was hard but it was the right move to make. There were a lot of great memories we brought with us. We are making and will continue to make great memories at our present location. After all, it is not about memories, it is about winning lost souls for the Lord. I believe we have so much more to offer our community at our present location. I am so proud that the doors to Central are open to all who want to worship God in spirit and in truth. I am so thankful that Bro. Bryan, his staff and our deacons love the Lord and that they proclaim God’s love to others. I know Central Baptist has a bright future, and I pray for God’s blessing on His church as we work together to advance His kingdom.”

How is Your Love Life
Mark 12:28-34
Sunday, July 14, 2024
Big Idea:
Those who truly love God can not consistently sin against man.
Where we love, we desire to bless.
The Greatest Commandment implies that we love God with:
1. Our Desires
2. Our Affections
3. Our Purposes
4. Our Will
5. Our Feelings
6. Our Character
7. Our Thoughts
2nd Greatest Commandment:
Who is our neighbor? This is answered by Who do we see?
How do we love our neighbor as ourselves?
1. Lead Others Very Effectively
2. Lend Our Voice Efficiently
3. Lay Opportunities of Victory for Eternity
How is your love life? Are you loving God and loving people?

We eagerly anticipate wisdom and inspiration that will flow from the hearts of these dedicated men as they share God's Word with our congregation. This season promises to be filled with diverse perspectives and spiritual growth as we open our hearts and minds to the messages that each Pastor has been called to deliver. | | | |
