Carrie Cullen Hitt
Executive Director,
National Offshore Wind Research and Development Consortium
As executive director of the National Offshore Wind Research and Development Consortium, Carrie Cullen Hitt is a vital link for the Advanced Energy Research and Technology Center (AERTC).
 
Dedicated to the advancement of the U.S. offshore-wind industry, the Consortium oversees $41 million in base funding from the U.S. Department of Energy and the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority, with additional funding contributions from five states and multiple industry stakeholders – all critical to the AERTC’s mission to advance clean-energy innovation.
 
Prior to joining the consortium, Hitt was president of New Hampshire Transmission Co., a regulated subsidiary of NextEra Energy Resources. She also held several positions at NextEra in solar-power and battery-storage market development, and is a former president of national trade organization The Solar Alliance and senior vice president of the Solar Energy Industries Association.
 
The industry veteran has also served in management positions focused on market strategy and external affairs at Exelon subsidiary Constellation Energy, and filled key roles at the Harvard Electricity Policy Group and Green Mountain Energy Resources.
 
Hitt, who joined the AERTC Advisory Board in 2020, began her career as an analyst for the Massachusetts State Legislature’s Joint Energy Committee. She’s a graduate of Clark University (bachelor’s degree in government and history) and Johns Hopkins University (master’s degree in international affairs).
