As one of the New York Power Authority’s (NYPA) highest-ranking executives, Advanced Energy Research and Technology Center Advisory Board Member Sarah Salati manages the authority’s wholesale and retail operations, including oversight of $2 billion in annual revenues from NYPA’s power-generating assets.
She also leads NYPA’s customer-facing business lines, providing energy-advisory services on projects ranging from turnkey energy-efficiency projects to solar and energy storage installations to electric vehicle-charging infrastructure.
During her NYPA tenure, Sarah has grown the authority’s distributed-energy resource pipeline from 10 megawatts to more than 300 MWs while managing a $300 million annual portfolio of energy-efficiency projects, creating significant direct-energy savings and greenhouse-gas emission reductions.
Committed to NYPA’s dual mission of reducing energy consumption and costs, Sarah has also led the authority’s grid-scale business-development team, which is focused on bulk-transmission and advanced storage projects that promote the integration of large-scale renewable-energy initiatives.
A frequent presenter at national energy events, Sarah is also the executive sponsor of the Women in Power Employee Resource Group, which empowers women to advance through the energy industry.
Before joining NYPA in 2018, Sarah spent 13 years at the AES Corporation, where she traveled the globe – including roles in England and Hungary – as part of her strategic, operational and innovation-focused roles.
The mother of three earned a bachelor’s degree from Yale University and a master’s degree from Johns Hopkins University.
