Supporter Spotlight

Be Like Abbey

Last year, Abbey Tootle raised $6,000 for the Alliance by running the ING New York City Marathon. It was, "the single most inspiring, uplifting, and challenging thing I have ever experienced," she says.

You can make a resolution to get fit and support your favorite cause in 2012, too. The Alliance now offers online fundraising opportunities, so anyone can register and raise funds to end childhood obesity.

Big News For Healthy Schools

Celebrity Chefs and Professional Athletes Join In

This month the Alliance helped raise awareness for the current state of childhood obesity at the Clinton Foundation's Health Matters conference. On stage, Chelsea Clinton announced two new celebrity chefs, Lorena Garcia and Reed Alexander, have pledged to create a series of recipes for healthy school meals. Like our Rachael Ray recipes, these will be available to any school across the county.

Along with celebrity chefs, we are teaming up with the Wasserman Foundation to continue our athlete outreach. With the help of CEO Casey Wasserman, we will be able to provide more school visits from big name athletes who encourage students to take charge of their health and get active. Like Trey Thompkins from the LA Clippers said, "Being healthy is important for everyone, not just professional athletes."
