In 2020, Laurel House purchased a building in Lansdale, PA, where we relocated our shelter and expanded our supportive services.
Little did we know just how big of an impact it would have.
Since the opening of the Safe Haven Center, our shelter has housed 166 families, thanks to the dedication of our shelter staff and interns from several local colleges and universities!
In our children's program, we hosted a Back to School Fair to help the kids in our shelter get ready for an exciting year of learning! We’ve celebrated various holidays, from spooky door decorating during Halloween to Easter egg hunts at the Todd David Satell Memorial Playground. The District Attorney's Office brought Santa to visit the kids living in our shelter, and we hosted a Hanukkah celebration. We even had a visit from Sal Giannone at Sal's Barber Shop, who offered free haircuts to the kids in our shelter!
In addition to occupational therapy and individual & group counseling, the parents and adult residents at our shelter have also had the chance to participate in a wide range of relationship-building activities, from arts & crafts to creating vision boards for their futures. Parents have also been offered the opportunity to participate in parenting classes. We've even started a crochet group!
Thank you to our supporters for your continued support during the Safe Haven Center’s second year! We look forward to many more years of serving survivors of domestic violence!
