Celebrating Veterans!!!
Throughout November, National Military Appreciation Month, we had several opportunities to celebrate the brave men and women who have served our nation. Veterans Day 2023 started off with a parade flanked by excited spectators.

"Our Veterans and their families sacrifice so much for our country. SSV keeps the promise to forever honor and help those who serve, making a positive, life-long impact in their lives every single day." - Jon Rossow, Colonel USAR (R), SSV Board Member
We'll wrap up the month with a special request for Giving Tuesday donations. This year we are asking you to help us catch Veterans facing a critical need for resources. 100% of your gift will help Veterans by directly providing hope and support with food, clothing, shelter, utilities, medical care, and maybe a Christmas gift for their child. Now - Dec. 5th, all gifts received will go directly towards SSV's emergency fund which helps Veterans in our community avoid a life-changing crisis by offering the emergency resources they need.
Sharing Love with Every Meal
As we enter the Holiday season we wish you and yours many blessings. SSV is honored to be a part of this Veteran community that supports those in need this time of year. Like the Rotary Club of Madison Alabama who recently collected food that will be shared with Veterans. Everyone can do a little to help make a great impact!
"SSV made sure I was given support, dedication, and an opportunity during one of the toughest times of my life. Thank you for all you have done and continue to do!" - Jason, US Army, SSV Client

My Journey to a Post-Military Career
As Mathew started transitioning from a 20-year career in the military to the civilian job market, the path ahead seemed daunting and uncertain. The challenges faced were not merely professional; they were deeply personal, testing his resilience in ways never experienced before.

“Being in the military is a very secure life position, and after 20 years of having that kind of job security, not having a job and searching for one was stressful and anxiety producing." - Mathew C.

The biggest hurdle? Confidence – or rather, the lack thereof. Leaving the military meant leaving behind the security of a life he had known for two decades. The familiar structure, the camaraderie, and the reassurance of a stable paycheck were replaced with the anxiety of the unknown. It was a stark shift from the familiar routine of military life to the unpredictable terrain of the civilian job market.
