This year’s World Veterinary Day theme—“Veterinarians are essential health workers”—speaks to the countless hours and passion we put into our craft. According to the World Veterinary Association, “Veterinarians’ competencies must be regarded as an essential and integral part of health at large. The application of veterinary science contributes not only to animal health and well-being but also to humans physical, mental, and social well-being.” As animal health professionals, this has always been a given.
