Improve Your Cyber Behavior
The US Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) a division within the Department of Homeland Security issued an alert after the CrowdStrike anti-virus application update crisis a couple of weeks ago which affected their 24K+ customers globally and 8.5 million devices preventing them from operating normally. Banks, healthcare, telecommunications, public sector and airlines all suffered reputational and financial losses.
CISA advises you to utilize multifactor authentication which will provide you an additional level of security while online. Update your software. When devices, applications or software programs notify you updates are available, install them now.
Bad actors used that situation to send phishing messages e.g. email and texts to try to convince people to act on their behalf by clicking on a link, downloading an attachment or providing confidential information before verifying its legitimacy.
Golden Technology Services Inc. offers Cyber Awareness training and testing. Will assist you in reducing your risk while online.

October 3: Exchange Club of Waterbury Dinner Fundraiser at La Bella Vista
Recap: Watertown Foundation 100th Anniversary Celebration |
The Watertown Foundation, founded in 1925 to improve the living and social conditions of our town, began the celebration of their 100th anniversary at a reception held at the Watertown Library on June 20th. Honoring a select group of non-profit organizations in our community the foundation has supported over the years, the library was the proper setting as it was one of the first recipients the foundation supported. The reception featured four other non-profit organizations who shared their mission and rich history of their community outreach. Those represented included; Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), Porter-Trumbull Chapter, The American Legion, Post 195; Camp Mataucha of the Greater Waterbury YMCA, and VFW Post 7330.
Following the reception, attendees were invited to visit the Watertown History Museum to view the Watertown Foundation Centennial Room, featuring displays by these organizations, highlighting their history and the services that they provide for the greater community.
All of these organizations have been a mainstay in our town. The Watertown Foundation has provided them grant funding for many years to enable them to continue their work. We all know of them, we drive by the VFW, we visit the library, we enjoy the majesty of the Old Burial Ground, but we don’t think about the people who work to insure that their mission continues. As we celebrated these five organizations, we were impressed with the passion that each group shared. How fortunate we are to live in a community so rich in giving and caring.
Pictured at the Watertown History Museum exhibit is left to right; Joy McDonald, Freda Carreiro, Colleen D’Amico and Penny Nalband of DAR.
The Watertown Foundation invites all to visit the Watertown Foundation Centennial Exhibit on display at the Watertown History Museum Wednesdays and Saturdays 10 am – 2 pm.
