SAYING GOODBYE AND MOVING FORWARD
Announcing our 2022 Lake Anne Fellowship House Farewell Tour!
After more than 50 years of providing a home for hundreds of senior Restonians, the current Lake Anne Fellowship House is set to be demolished in late 2022. Our “Farewell Tour” will commence in the new year … we want YOU to be a part of it!

Check out our webpage for information, event updates, historic photos… and you can share your favorite memories of life in this cherished community by telling us YOUR story!

Getting There from Here
Ride hailing services from Uber, Lyft and others are now commonplace. While most of Fellowship Square residents have a car of their own and drive regularly, others do not have their own transportation and struggle to run errands or make it to their doctor’s office.

The National Council on Aging in partnership with Volkswagen Group of America conducted a survey earlier this year of ride-hailing services. Many older adults lose their ability to drive safely as they age – and transportation is such an important part of one’s independence.

Fellowship Square devotes resources to helping our residents overcome their transportation challenges. At each property, we have a 14-passenger bus that makes trips regularly to shopping centers, restaurants and field trips requested by residents (such as local farmer’s markets and museums). Additionally, through donations from people like you, we provide emergency funds to help residents with vehicle repairs to keep their cars running.

Having the ability to “get on the road” whether for necessity or just to get out of the house is vitally important to all of us. Besides the convenience of having transportation when they need it, getting seniors out and about, through a “car on demand” service or on the Fellowship House bus gives them a greater sense of self and their own empowerment. The freedom to “go” has a tremendous positive effect on their mental well-being.

I greatly appreciate all that you do for our organization. Your support – now and always – makes a lasting impact on those we serve. Happy holidays to you!

In gratitude,
Christy Zeitz

Hunters Woods Fellowship House

Santa's helpers came to Hunters Woods Fellowship House to wrap and donate gifts for the residents! With an "Adopt A Grandparent" Project started by Sarah Hickner and supported by the Reston community, every resident received a gift for the holidays.

Working Together —
SN Mortgage Company
Three masked volunteers standing together
As Fellowship Square strives to provide our residents with the best community, facilities and resources, we recognize the great importance of all our volunteers in meeting these goals. One of our amazing community partners, SN Mortgage Company, has been volunteering for the past year. SN Mortgage Company works to provide safe housing to all by assisting future homeowners with loan support and low-stress mortgage finance assistance. SN Mortgage holds true to its passion in ensuring everyone has a home to call their own.

SN Mortgage Company employees volunteer with the Fellowship Fresh program, delivering food to our residents in the Reston area. Heather Kyle, Regional Marketing Manager of SN Mortgage, described how the direct interaction with our senior residents made volunteering so rewarding. Heather explained that home is a powerful thing…making the support of and volunteering with housing organizations such as Fellowship Square so important. We are so appreciative of our partnership with SN Mortgage Company and its employees.
FUNDRAISING WITH FUN AND FLAIR

Winter Wonderland was a Success!
Fellowship Square’s annual fundraiser was a huge success and raised more than ever before! Held at Reston’s gorgeous Lake House decked out in twinkling lights and holiday splendor… some 100 guests bid on exciting Silent Auction packages while sipping from a generous selection of wines and sampling tantalizing desserts. Live music filled the air with a selection of holiday and jazzy tunes.

THANK YOU to Griffin Owens Insurance Group, our Leadership Sponsor, and all others who attended and/or contributed!
