Celebrating 75 Years of
Mallard's Speed Record!

FANTASTIC OPPORTUNITY - BOOK NOW!
Dear Passenger,

On 3rd of July 1938 streamlined locomotive Mallard set a world speed record for steam traction that still stands today!  Whilst reaching that magnificent speed of 126mph is not possible, we are delighted to announce that there will be an opportunity to join a limited number of high speed runs with Mallard's sister locomotive 4464 Bittern.Mallard 75 poster

On 29th June this year, in partnership with Locomotive Services Ltd and Steam Railway Magazine, Bittern will depart from London Kings Cross and head for York.  For this special occasion the preserved steam speed limit of 75mph will be relaxed at certain locations to permit speeds of up to 90mph to be achieved.  This is likely to be a unique occasion with an A4 streamlined locomotive operating at high speed.
Please note the return journey will be hauled by a modern electric locomotive.  Given the nature of this special occasion the tours are expected to be very popular and we recommend early booking.

Steam Dreams
has secured a number of seats in both classes offered (First Class or Premier Dining) and we recommend immediate booking to avoid disappointment.

Bittern will be remaining in York to join the other five A4s as part of the Celebration of Mallard's 75th Anniversary.  It is possible on July 7th to travel on The Cathedrals Express to see all 6 together at the National Railway Museum in York.  This journey will be hauled by 60163 Tornado.

On 27th July 2013, Bittern will once again take to the East Coast Mainline running at speeds of up to 90mph.  Our train will head out from London Kings Cross behind modern traction.  On arrival in York there will be time to visit the city's famous Minster with its iconic Rose window, the roman walls which surround this city or meander around The Shambles and enjoy the wonderful boutiques and cafes before boarding our special train hauled by Bittern back to London Kings Cross.

This journey will again include sections of the route authorised for speeds of up to 90mph and will include the very section of line where Mallard set the world record some 75 years ago.

Once again Steam Dreams has been able to secure seats in both classes on this train and booking is recommended swiftly as there is very limited availability.

In the spirit of recreating the glamorous era of the 1930s streamlined expresses, Premier Dining passengers will be served by liveried stewards.  Breakfast and dinner will be silver served at your seat. Regular Steam Dreams passengers may notice some slight differences to our normal service as part of this special occasion.
