Crisis Worker Training To Be Held In MAY

For three weeks beginning on May 17, community members and college students will be participating in a 40 hour training that will prepare them to respond to people in need on our crisis lines.

Trainees will learn the basics of crisis theory, learn and practice active listening skills, and discover ways to be helpful with special populations and issues such as suicidal crises, people with mental health problems, runaway and homeless youth, and people with substance abuse problems.

There is still time to express interest if you would like to be considered to help us serve people in crisis. Just call Third Level, 231-922-4802 or go to our web site www.thirdlevel.org and complete an on line application!

ONGOING:

Third Level is collecting unwanted cell phones to raise funds for Crisis Services.  Please donate any cell phones that you have and don't use.  We don't need the chargers or accessories.  There is no cost to participate so 100% of the proceeds will benefit

Crisis Services.

The phones are sent to Pace Butler Corporation in Oklahoma, a leader in the cell phone recycling industry.  Pace Butler pays for cell phones they receive while ensuring that each phone is recycled in a responsible manner and that no phone ever ends up in a landfill.  Some phones are donated to individuals in need of emergency 911 service, including victims of domestic violence and senior citizens.  The money raised benefits a worthy cause while the environment is spared of cell phones' harmful toxins.

Drop off locations are at Third Level,1022 E. Front Street, Cartridge World, 3311 W. South Airport Road, Sprint, 2506 Crossing Circle, Ste. C, Traverse City, the Wireless Zone, 2770 Silver Lake Road, Francisco Plaza, Traverse City, and Verizon Wireless, GT Mall.
