SFSC Panther Monthly News & Updates
Sweet summertime calls for quieter days on campus with time for our faculty, staff, and employees to prepare for the upcoming academic year. But oh what a celebration we had at Spring 2024 Commencement! Please help us welcome 492 new graduates to the SFSC Alumni Association. On May 7, your Alumni Association was able to celebrate with the 298 graduates that walked in the two ceremonies.

In this newsletter, you will find content designed just for YOU! There are updates about the Alumni Spotlights, news about the happenings on campus, and events to support your Alumni Association and the College, your College. The Office of the Alumni Association is committed to sharing ways for our alumni to stay connected to the College and to one another. We encourage you to stay involved in your Panther community.

A word from your Alumni Coorindator
It is an exciting time with the SFSC Alumni Association as we are continually looking to grow and expand our alumni and all that we offer. Our current Advisory Council has served well these past two years and we are looking ahead at our future. We would love to add more to our advisory council and/or we have some positions on the board available for fresh ideas. These past two years we have opened up our SFSC Alumni Membership Card program with benefits and discounts, we have started up our SFSC Alumni Scholarship, and we have held our quarterly networking socials and more!

I would love to chat with you more about what the Advisory Council entails and see if it might interest you. Please reach out to me.

Go Panthers!

SFSC Alumni Spotlight
SFSC Alumni Spotlight: Jeff Sikes

This spring we were able to celebrate one of our SFSC alumni, Jeff Sikes at the ballgame. Jeff attended SFSC in 1979 and 1980 as a student-athlete for our Panther Baseball team. He then went on to play at the University of Kentucky and began his baseball coaching career in 1984 at Warner University, just up the road from us. He coached at Warner University for 40 years!
He has a true passion for the game and making an impact on his student-athletes. We are proud to call him an SFSC alumnus!

PAWSitive Alumni...a new initiative
The SFSC Alumni Association is excited to announce a new initiative. We are partnering with our professors of the Undergraduate Research Program to kick this initiative off, but it is open to any of our alumni. We hope to make connections with current students; a "PAWsitive" way to give back to your alma mater.

Mission: To connect and engage an SFSC alum with their alma mater, giving back time by mentoring a current student to assist, guide, and act as a resource as the student’s educational journey continues to the same or a similar educational institution.

Goals:
  • Connect and engage SFSC alumni with alma mater
  • Connect and build relationships between students and alumni to encourage continued educational growth, guidance, and opportunities beyond SFSC
  • Organizing and leveraging SFSC alumni who have successfully navigated admissions and other experiences on their journey after SFSC to reach their educational goals

For more details about this new initiative, visit PAWsitive Alumni.
