Here's some good news for you. I am lucky enough to have worked with some great organisations and people over the years and some of them are experiencing great success and growth. Here are a couple of examples of recent success and growth:
1) Andrew and Sam, Queenstown - my amazing partners at Lead the Way running leadership workshops with horses -
Andrew has just published his first book,
telling his story about horse whispering and how he has cultivated his art!
2) Tigerspike
- Digital pioneers innovating and re-imagining the future of the world through a mobile-first lens -
been awarded mobile competency as a consulting partner by Amazon and turned 13 this month!
3) AKA Asia
- independent communications agency that's packing a punch when it comes to creating powerful campaigns
- over the last few months have been winning numerous awards for their PR work, with the latest from Spikes Asia 2016!
4) Heineken - most of you will know this company - launched a new and innovative hiring campaign called
Going Places
- check it out!
Congratulations to all of you! And those of you not in the list above, there are 'quiet achievements' happening all the time so if you look closely enough there is always something to celebrate.
I feel torn though.
I am witnessing great growth and success stories and I am seeing Managers (and people I care for who are Managers) struggling. And I hasten to add,
not necessarily in the organisations / teams I mention above.
What do I see?
:
They're stuck - they doubt their ability, they expect to fail. They hide - they stick their head in the sand and pretend it's not happening. They flap - they forget the green cross code - to stop, look and listen.
I want to celebrate but at the same time I want to commiserate. Growth is great. Success is great! We all wish for it but we are not always ready for it. I am reminded of the old saying, "be careful what you wish for."
However, help is at hand! Below are a few things I have seen and also developed that are helping me and others I work with manage the highs and lows of growth. I hope you find them useful.
Don't stop growing and keep smiling! |
