MARCH 2024

Women's Herstory Month

Happy Women's HERstory Month!

As we commemorate International Women's History Month this March, we honour the resilience, achievements, and contributions of women around the world. This month serves as a reminder of the extraordinary women who have paved the way for progress and equality while also acknowledging the ongoing struggles and challenges faced by women today.

At the Women's Centre of Calgary, we are dedicated to advocating for gender equity in our community. Throughout the month, we will be hosting a series of events and activities to celebrate the achievements of women and raise awareness about the issues women and gender-diverse people continue to face. To stay in the loop, follow us on Instagram and Facebook or visit our website.

We hope you can join our community event on March 11

BASIC NEEDS

Introducing: Shop Days

For Shop Days, you can book a 20-minute appointment where you can shop for (FREE) available personal care items like shampoo, conditioner, body wash, toothpaste, makeup, hair care and more!

Shop days will replace the current system of accessing personal care items through Peer Support. This new system aims to reduce wait times and provide more opportunities for community members to access needed items. Community members can still get pads, tampons, incontinence products and diapers at Peer Support as usual.

To sign up for Shop Days, sign up online, chat with a volunteer at Peer Support, or call us at (403) 264-1155.

CONNECT WITH OTHERS

2024 Feminist Walk

Join the Women’s Centre on Saturday, March 23 at 10 A.M., in collaboration with the City of Calgary, for an interactive asset-mapping stroll through our community. We will explore how public environments influence how women, gender diverse and disabled folks navigate and use spaces in the winter months. Insights gathered from this event will help shape the City’s plan for a better future for Calgary and the Women’s Centre advocacy work.

To register, please email or RSVP@womenscentrecalgary.org. You can also call us at (403) 264-1155.

After three years of community engagement, the Women’s Centre has developed a feminist recovery agenda.
