Your Thoughts Welcome on the Future of Wiehle Avenue Development

Fairfax County is studying the redesign of Wiehle Avenue between Sunrise Valley Drive to Sunset Hills Road to evaluate Wiehle Avenue’s multimodal operations since the opening of Phase II of Metrorail’s Silver Line. As part of this effort, the County is looking to determine how to best transform this corridor from an auto-dominated suburban-designed road to a multimodal urban-designed street. Your input is needed on a variety of potential streetscape designs. These design concepts include options for pedestrian walkways, bike lanes and traffic flow, and residents are encouraged to submit their thoughts on the proposed concepts or alternate options.

The County has developed a feedback form to collect community input, which will be accepted until July 1. View the proposed options, and share your thoughts today!

Reston Regional Library to Temporarily Close

Reston Regional Library will be closed for approximately 10 weeks for renovations to keep the library going until the new one is available in 2029. The closure starts on Saturday, June 29. The building is being modernized, including full ADA updates and refurbishment of main restrooms, carpet replacement in key areas and cleaning and updates to public meeting rooms. For staff assistance, call 703-689-2700 or email libRR@fairfaxcounty.gov.

Reminder: Barton Hill Tennis Courts to Close at the End of June

In anticipation of the upcoming renovation project, the tennis courts at Barton Hill will close after June 30. Pending contract approval, work on the renovation project will begin in July. Staff decided to close courts at this time as cracking in the courts has led to unsafe conditions for play. Neighbors in the area are also asked to avoid using the parking lot immediately adjacent to the courts, as construction crews will be using this area for staging and access to the site. The Barton Hill tennis project will provide a complete court renovation, including a new asphalt surface, fencing, nets, and color coating. Work is expected to be completed next spring.

Additional information is found on the Barton Hill Tennis Project page.
