Come Celebrate Trees on Arbor Day, March 15th!

Join Fairyland's, tree enthusiasts, arborists, tree inspectors and special performers to give much-needed loving care and maintenance to over 100 large trees in this special part of Oakland's urban forest. Children will have the opportunity to climb trees like the pros, build birdhouses and bee-hotels, learn how to compost, and witness live demonstrations on wood milling!

Generously funded by PG&E and sponsored by the Western Chapter of the Int'l Society of Arboriculture and the  Oakland Public Works Agency, this event will provide community and environmental education through interactive learning experiences, community plantings, unique children's programming, and a special performance by Timmy Womick's renowned Tree Circus!

Please note: The Jolly Trolly and the Johnny Appleseed Caf will be closed March 14-16.

There will be construction going on that weekend as we improve safety and ADA compliance for that area. We thank you for your patience.

AXIS Dance Company inspires OUSD students

Over 400 Oakland Unified School District students were treated to a mind-opening performance by the Axis Dance Company as part of Fairyland's Outreach Program last Friday. Based in Oakland, AXIS Dance Company is one of the first contemporary dance companies in the world to consciously develop choreography that integrates dancers with and without physical disabilities. Thanks to generous grants from local foundations (and donors like you!) we're pleased to offer qualifying low-income school and childcare groups our magical field trip experience free of charge.

Volunteer on Second Saturdays

Every month, we coordinate volunteer community groups and Fairyland supporters to help us keep our 10-acre park running magically. Special thanks to Saint Anne's Parish for coming in this past Saturday with over 80 volunteers!

We are always seeking volunteers for:

* Painting and restoration projects

* Gardening under the supervision of our horticulturist

* Animal care, including cleaning, feeding, and grooming (18+)

* Light office work for various departments
