Top Highlights

We are excited about a number of things that have happened in 2024! Here are some highlights thus far.

Ceca Named as Finalist for McKnight’s Excellence in Technology Awards

We're honored to be named as a finalist in the “Building Bridges” Category for the McKnight’s Excellence in Technology Awards. Ceca's uniquely inclusive caregiver recognition platform helps care communities collect stories about exceptional acts of care from their caregivers and to highlight the integral role that they play in the healthcare experience. McKnight’s long-running program honors providers and marketplace players that convey how technology has successfully improved care and operations. Gold, Silver and Bronze awards will be granted in 16 categories to be announced on October 3.

Ceca’s National and International Awards

This Spring, Ceca staff canvased the country celebrating extraordinary caregivers in five different states. For the 10th Annual National Ceca Awards, the team recognized Jacqueline Akansugba, a Geriatric Nurse Assistant at Edenwald Senior Living in Towson, MD; Paul Borowski, an Environmental Services team member at Middleburg Heights Health and Rehabilitation Center in Middleburg Heights, OH; Carla Castellano, a Professional Caregiver at Focus Healthcare Solutions in Liberty, MO; and Menbere “Gabbi” Ali Gebral, a Certified Nursing Assistant at Knollwood Life Plan Community in Washington, DC.

Additionally, in partnership with Nurses With Global Impact, Ceca celebrated Dr. Francine Bono-Neri as recipient of the 2024 International Ceca Award at the United Nations Headquarters in New York in recognition of compassionate care and excellence in nursing. Dr. Bono-Neri was recognized for her long career as a nurse for over 30 years, and in particular for devoting the last decade of her life to work as an advocate, educator and healthcare provider for human trafficking victims.

On the Road Again

The Ceca Team hit the road this Spring, Summer and into Fall providing educational sessions and expert insights on recognition and workforce development topics, in addition to supporting several industry and caregiver awards at conferences and conventions. We are honored to collaborate with leading organizations in the industry including California Association of Health Facilities, Florida Health Care Association, Illinois Health Care Association, LifeSpan Network, Missouri Health Care Association, Ohio Health Care Association, Pennsylvania Health Care Association, and Texas Health Care Association.

Welcoming Our Newest Partners

This year, Ceca has launched programs in 15 of our newest care communities. Join us in celebrating caregivers from CRi, Green Tree Healthcare Management, IntegraCare, Palm Beach Health Partners and The Virginia Home. Additionally, we’re eager to announce an exciting new partnership before the end of the year!

New Features Coming Soon

The Ceca Team has been hard at work on the Ceca Award platform. Every day we devote hours to maintaining the system and continuing to automate pieces and create new marketing collateral that make recognition easier for our partners. But we love to devote time to adding new features, so we are very excited to announce some shiny new updates in the works such as improved dashboards and metric reporting, dynamic CecaTV content updating, increased text capabilities, and multi-media recognition! Look for more updates in the coming months.

Ceca Partner Spotlights

Edenwald Senior Living is leading the way with its innovative collaboration with Goucher College, which was featured in McKnight’s Senior Living News. This pioneering partnership places Edenwald at the forefront of the emerging trend of university retirement communities by expanding offerings to residents for educational opportunities and enriching experiences, such as access to college classes and study-abroad trips. By joining this select group of university-affiliated retirement communities, Edenwald is setting a new standard in senior living, reflecting a growing trend towards educational enrichment and community connection.

In an article from Senior Housing News, Providence Place Senior Living, located in Pennsylvania and now in its 25th year of business, is making moves to grow and evolve for the future, including by meeting more middle-market demand. The company has had positive operational momentum in 2024, and now it is plotting its next moves, according to President and CEO David Leader. Looking ahead, Providence Place has plans to continue growing its presence in Pennsylvania, though Leader said if the opportunity arises there could be opportunities in Maryland and Delaware as well.

Goodwin Living was featured in McKnight's Senior Living News piece focused on the unique and resident-inspired program that helps senior living staff members achieve US citizenship. The program began when a resident of Goodwin House Bailey’s Crossroads in Falls Church, VA, learned that the US citizenship application fee was very costly, as she recognized that it took staff members several years and multiple jobs to save up the money. With the support of the Goodwin Living Foundation, the residents raised $40,000 in a few weeks, leading to the creation of a citizenship program. Goodwin is sharing its success in the hopes of inspiring other communities to adapt the program to their needs.

Knollwood Life Plan Community’s new CEO, Gary Hibbs, was featured in Senior Housing News talking about strategic plan for the future. Under Hibbs’ leadership, the community will embark on a master planning effort that will likely include updated infrastructure and more independent living apartments, and he “envisions opportunities” for engagement with the local community to expand resident programming.
