March 2024

Note from Canon Heather+

Eternal Lord of Love, behold your Church

walking once more the pilgrim way of Lent,

led by your cloud by day, by night your fire,

moved by your love and toward your presence bent:

far off yet here—the goal of all desire.

(Thomas Cain, hymn #149)

Aloha Dear St. Andrew’s,

Stretched before us is an entire month of our walking on. Walking onward, with Jesus-- on the road, weeks of walking toward Jerusalem, then, quickly, all in one simple, holy week, we will move through the city gates, to the Upper Room, to the Garden of Gethsemane, to the palace, and finally to Calvary’s hill...once more and again. And if we are truly walking as pilgrims walk, as Cain suggests in his hymn text, then not only are we walking, but we are also seeking, and worshipping with each step we take in all these holy days in this holy season.

Walk with us here at St. Andrew’s, moved by and through

and with God’s love

~~ Come and See – and Do, with us!~~

Everything held here in the March Cathedral Life invites and encourages you to walk on and join us in this stretch of the journey:

  • with our Annual Walk in Love Slipper Drive, we are collecting slippers for Princess Ruth Keʻelikōlani Middle School, our neighbors across the street. Collection bin is located near the font! Thank you for filling it again and again – and for your generous heart of Love.
  • with a welcome introduction to the Cathedral and our life here, this Sunday, March 3, after the 10am. Gather at the pulpit for St. Andrew’s 101 tour and talk story.
  • with our Way of the Cross Labyrinth Walk, we are putting movement with our prayers for presence and Presence in these precipice days. Friday, March 22, 5:30pm-7pm, in the Cathedral. (details below!)
  • with our worship throughout the month, highlighting Choral Evensong (March 3, 5:30pm), Palm Sunday (March 24), and then into Holy Week itself.
  • with our preparations for Easter and Benedictine Work Day, March 30, 9am-12noon.
  • with our chorus of “Hallelujah!” and hymns of resurrection when it finally is time...Easter Vigil, Saturday, March 30, 7pm and Easter Sunday morning, March 31!

I pray that you will be on the road, right with us, as these days go by and these opportunities come for praise and thanksgiving. Get out those walking shoes and we will walk on, together, just as we are called to do.

Should you have questions or wonderings about how to be more involved in our life here, please do not hesitate to ask.

Pax, as always,

Cn Heather+

Join us for this very unique and holy moment! (& bring a pair of socks for your labyrinth walk!). Catch Kristin’s TedTalk on the labyrinth.

About Kristin Keyes

Kristin experienced her first labyrinth walk more than 20 years ago. In this discovery, she found a tool that has enabled her to experience God at a much deeper level, offering a place for meditation in a profoundly meaningful way. As a certified labyrinth facilitator, she offers classes and walk experiences so that others can benefit from walking a labyrinth. Kristin also leads spiritual retreats.
