| NYC CARPENTERS BACK RICHARDSON FOR STATE ASSEMBLY For Immediate Release
Brooklyn, NY - The New York City & Vicinity District Council of Carpenters have thrown their support behind Diana Richardson for Brooklyn's 43rd Assembly seat. The representative body consisting of eight local unions and 20,000 members made the announcement today for their pick in the special election that will take place on Tuesday May 5. "Having demonstrated a full understanding of the needs of working people in her community, Diana will be an effective advocate for the District Council's membership," said Executive Secretary-Treasurer Joseph Geiger. "Diana understands the issues facing New York City; she understands that giving away tax abatements and subsidies to developers without attaching labor standards does nothing to uplift our communities. Moreover, she is a much needed voice in Albany. That is why we are proud to support her candidacy." "The New York City & Vicinity Carpenters District Council represents resilience, demanding a better future for its members and fighting for it at all cost," said Richardson in accepting the endorsement. She added: "I am very happy to receive their nomination and I am encouraged by the fact that I have the support of an organization committed to helping me in my efforts to deliver a better quality of life for all of the residents of the 43rd Assembly District and New York State at large," concluded Ms. Richardson. Richardson is progressive Democrat running on the Working Families Party line in the upcoming Special Election to fill the vacant seat in the 43rd Assembly District that encompasses the neighborhoods of Crown Heights, East Flatbush, Wingate and Prospect-Lefferts Gardens. ### |
