Donna Feeds over 520 Stranded Travelers over Christmas
Donna Rusaw is not only one of our Meals on Wheels cooks (with her amazing team over at Black Dress Catering), but also the Food Services Coordinator at Ed's House.
We are thankful for Donna everyday and just wanted to take a moment to say a huge thank you for her generosity and kindness in feeding over 500 stranded travelers at the Keeler Centre in Colborne over the Christmas break!
Busloads of people (approximately 6 buses!) and several other vehicles starting pulling off the highway, showing up at the Keeler Centre at midnight on December 23rd when the weather got too treacherous to travel any further. When Donna heard, she packed up any food she had at home and headed there for 7 a.m. Christmas Eve, staying until Christmas day at 3 p.m.!
Donna made a food station on each floor and along with her amazing group of 25 volunteers served over 1000 plus meals!
Rob O'Neil and the team at Food 4 All also showed up with food to help feed the mouths of so many!
Plus Donna mentions she had the cutest little volunteer - a "young fellow" that followed Donna around, cleaning each table with Lysol wipes! Before this young boy left on Christmas Day to make the trek home to Montreal, Donna made sure to fill his tummy with a hot Turkey Christmas dinner!
Her selfless act of goodwill has not gone unnoticed and has touched the hearts of so many.
Thank you, Donna, for being an example of compassion and caring during a time when it was needed the most. We are forever grateful!
