Goodbye School Year! Hello Summer!

Each school year seems to go by more quickly and this year was no exception. As we end another school year it is a good time to take a moment and reflect on the year. It has been a wonderful year full of awesome experiences for our students thanks to our caring staff and our families willingness to collaborate with them.

Once again our community support made a significant difference in the lives of our students. Whether it was through your involvement in school events, your contributions to fundraising efforts, or your willingness to lend a helping hand and provide guidance, you have played an essential role in creating a nurturing and enriching environment for our children.

We are grateful for the trust you have placed in us as educators and for the open lines of communication that have allowed us to work together in the best interest of our children. Please continue to reach out with questions, concerns or input as to how we can better serve our students and community. Together we have created a supportive network where students feel valued, encouraged and inspired to reach their full potential. Because of this our students have a strong foundation for success.

Thank you for being a vital part of our school community. We look forward to welcoming you back in the fall, where together, we will continue to nurture our students. Until then, we wish you and your family a summer filled with joy, relaxation and unforgettable moments.

Chromebook Return and Storage

Any students that keep their Chromebook over the summer should be sure to charge it to 80% battery level and then shut it off completely by holding the power button until it turns off, then safely store. Chromebook batteries tend to go bad over the summer if they are left at a low percentage of charge.

Annandale Preschool

Another year in the books for our youngest learners! These students finished up a year of preschool and they had a lot of fun doing it!

Annandale Elementary News

On Thursday, May 16th, fifteen AES third, fourth, and fifth graders attended the YAYA (Young Authors, Young Artists) conference at Saint Benedict's College organized by Resource Training and Solutions. Students were selected for this opportunity based on their writing, creativity, and love of learning.

Attendees were able to choose different sessions to attend. Sessions ranged from "How to Draw Cartoons," with Gary Harbo, "The Power of Puppetry," with Heather Mastromarco, and even "How to Design Advertisements." Students also had the opportunity to attend a session with writing tips from Carrie Hartman, illustrator of Julia Cook’s book, My Mouth is a Volcano.

A change for the upcoming year: This summer will be the first year AES will not be having a Back-to-School Day in August. Parents will be able to look up their child's teacher on Tuesday, August 6 via Parent Portal. Information regarding Open House(s) will be shared with families at a later date via Parent Portal messenger and also announced in upcoming newsletters, on our school website, and our social media platforms this summer. School Toolboxes (school supplies) that are ordered will be available for pick up during our open house days.

AES Fun & Fitness Day was held on Monday, May 20. Thankfully the weather held out for some spectacular fun for everyone! AES students participated in several events as a class including; Banana Relay, Tug of War, 3 legged race, high jump, long jump, tire roll, hula hoop challenge, hurdles, and a sprint. Our students look forward to this special day all spring long so be sure to ask them about their favorite event and how their class did!

27th Annual 4th Grade Sale

Annandale Elementary School's 27th Annual 4th Grade sale was held on Wednesday, May 22 at 1:30 p.m. in the Elementary School Gym.

Through this project fourth graders learn about economics, banking, and entrepreneurship. They also create a product at home, create a 'store' with a storefront, and invite their families to come shop from all the 4th grader's stores.

We are always incredibly grateful for the support this project receives and this year was no different as we welcomed over 450 guests!

Middle School Minutes

Our middle school students concluded their last day of the school year with a talent show and the last Cardinal Cash drawings. Students from 6th, 7th, and 8th grade were encouraged to try out for the talent show. Students played instruments, danced, sang, and told jokes to entertain our staff, the student body, and guests from the community. We also recognized students demonstrating integrity, responsibility, and respect with Cardinal Cash drawings in between performances. 8th graders Robbie and Ryan were the MCs for the last day assembly, and they entertained the audience with jokes and encouragement.

After our talent show, each grade level enjoyed their last day of school playing games, having a picnic lunch, signing yearbooks, and saying goodbye to the 2024-25 school year. Annandale's middle school staff wishes our students and the entire Annandale community a wonderful summer!

High School Happenings

On Friday, May 24, Annandale's Class of 2024 completed our Graduate Walk tradition where they walk through the halls of our buildings in their caps and gowns. Our younger students made signs to show congratulations and support. Staff were able to give high fives and well wishes. This tradition fills our halls and our hearts with great energy! 🎓

As we wrap up another year, these pictures are a great reminder of how fast time flies! Soon enough our newest Kindergarteners will enter the world on their own. So before summer officially begins for Annandale Public Schools...we'd like to thank all our staff, families, and community members for helping to make the years we have with them so special! Congratulations to our Class of 2024!❤️

Annandale Takes 3rd Place 3A Conference 6 Trap Shooting Final Standings

I am so grateful I had the opportunity to serve the community, staff, and most of all the students of Annandale these past two years. I have come to know Annandale as a place of community investment, desire for excellence, with a passion for kids and their well-being. From my first time meeting David Burd to talking about the past at Friday night games with Craig Dezell and Denny Harmoning, moving back to a small town has been everything our family hoped it would be.

I want to give a big thank you to the many people, businesses, and organizations that have supported the updates and upgrades on the campus these last two years. I hope it's a catalyst for continued improvements and doing the best we can for our students and community.

Fast forward two years, and our family has made the decision to relocate to upstate South Carolina to be closer to my wife’s family. I have accepted a position at DW Daniel High School in Clemson, South Carolina. I truly hope my time here added to the great Cardinal legacy. I was blessed to serve this community. I will continue to serve until the end of June so please feel free to stop by or say hi if you see me at In Hot Water or Sweet Escape a few more times before I go.
