2023 Summer Updates

New Scoreboard Coming to Cardinal Stadium

One of the biggest blessings of being in a small, close-knit community is the pride we take in our school district and the support we receive from our local community. When I took this role a year ago, it was evident we had some work to do in updating our facilities and showcasing our Annandale pride throughout our facilities.

In order to begin working on these projects I needed financial support from our local community. Being from a small town I realize how much our local community already gives so I tried to find a solution where our local businesses would benefit. That is how the Annandale Activities Marketing plan was born. The first major project was the replacement of the pink scoreboard. It served Cardinal Stadium for many decades and was in need of replacement. A group consisting of coaches, community, staff and school board members, reviewed bids and selected Think Digital out of Edina as the supplier of a Watchfire Scoreboard. What stood out about Think Digital is how they stood by their product and their quick customer service. The new scoreboard design was also approved by the committee with a focus of a nice replacement within a reasonable budget. The scoreboard should be installed by the first week of August and ready for the season-opener on September 1st against Litchfield as we "Battle for the Paddle".

We are excited about this new addition to our great stadium and look forward to seeing the community at future games, meets, and special events at the Cardinal Stadium! If any local business or organization is interested in partnering with the Annandale Activities Marketing Plan please reach out to me at slepa@isd876.org

Cardinals Shine & Records Fall at State Track

Annandale Track and Field has a long history of excellence as both a team and by individuals and relays. This year was no different with multiple medals and school records broken, some over 40 years old! Sal Wirth and the Men's 4x800m Relay took silver medals home in class AA and Graham Zuehlke placed 5th while breaking his own school record set earlier this season. The girls 4x200 missed out on the finals by .02 seconds after running their best time of the season and breaking a school record set back in 1981. Olivia Minear qualified for the tournament in the 1600m and ran a great race finishing 13th. Exciting achievements for the Cardinals and lots of excitement for next year as many of these competitors return next season.
