Library News
This week was very exciting, with class visits for book check out and a multitude of student visits. The BHS Library launched our new "BHS Library Incentives" website- this website includes ways for students to track their reading, earn digital badges, and prizes for participating in Bellaire HS Library programs. The link for this new website is located on Canvas and the Bellaire HS Library website.
Students can go into the website and track books that they have read, look at charts of their specific reading habits and work towards our new reading incentive: Literacy Graduation Cords. Students will need to read 3,000 pages a year or more to meet our 12,000-page requirement to receive the Literacy graduation cord. They will track their reading through this website and see other seasonal challenges like Cardinals Read Challenge.
Students can also earn digital badges for participating in library programs like becoming 3D printing certified, participating in Make it Monday events, learning how to use AccessIt (our digital catalog), Signing in to the library, and much more. We already have 150+ students that have already earned a badge or are close to achieving one soon.
Volunteer Information:
If you are interested in donating or volunteering with the Bellaire High School Library- please check out our Support the Library Page on the Bellaire HS Library website. This gives you access to see what is going on and what the current needs are on campus. Currently, we have a Donor's Choose for small items to celebrate our reading initiative: Cardinals Read, and a new SignUP Genius for Parent Volunteers to help us in the library during Cardinal Hour.
