Bellaire High School Parents and Community,

I hope everyone is enjoying a great weekend with family and loved ones. As a reminder, final exams begin tomorrow with 1st period final exam followed by two final exams each day the rest of the week. All HISD schools are having full days on instruction during finals week. There is no school on Friday, December 22nd, which is the first day of the winter recess. The Bellaire HS final exam schedule was created in such a way that there is a review period before each final exam. In addition, teachers may use the review period to help students get caught up with any missing work or interventions to assist students in being successful as the semester wraps up. As always, teacher assistance is also available during Cardinal Hour all week.

Also, please remind your child the districtwide policy regarding cell phones and personal devices, which is that cell phones, personal devices, headphones, and earbuds are not to be out, visible, nor used during class time and during transitions between classes. On campus, teachers and staff are working with students to meet this expectation every day. As Bellaire High School works to keep its autonomy, this is where parents can help. Please share this information with your child and remind him or her to keep cell phones on backpacks during class time and during transitions between classes. It is best to keep all headphones and earbuds at home.

This goes for dress code, too. Meeting dress code expectations is part of keep the school’s autonomy. Please ensure your child is in dress code daily, which includes no pajamas, no midriff exposed, and no hoodies being worn on the head while on campus.

If there are any questions about any of these standard policies at Bellaire High School, please contact your child’s assistant principal. Bellaire counselors are also available to help answer questions.

If you are interested in joining the Parents on Patrol (POP), click here to learn more and sign up. You may also contact POP liaison Tricia Onufer for more details. The next POP orientation is on campus January 11th, 2024 at 2:00 pm.

Once again, thank you for your support of your child and Bellaire High School this year. Your support as a parent is critical to your child’s success and the success of the school community as a whole.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Michael Niggli, Principal
