Library News
March was a busy month- including SAT Testing, Spring Break, and Multiple holidays! With only 14 school days and the library being closed for 1.5 of those days due to testing and staffing issues, we doubled our March circulation from last year, and Ms. Carpenter had a busy schedule of classes throughout the month.
Some highlights include: Lessons focusing on research- World Geography looking at African Countries, Business Statistics debating minimum wage, HR current issues, and Sociology investigating healthcare systems. Our circulation statistics for March have doubled from last years circulation- including physical books, MackinVia usage, and Comics Plus Usage. Ms. Carpenter taught 24 classes this month- mostly focusing on research skills and critical thinking. The library's total circulation is 7,007 at the end of March, which is 300+ books more than last years total circulation.
Announcement: The Bellaire High School Library's weekly eNews has won the TLA Texas Branding Iron Award for Digital Communications in schools! This is a statewide award that assesses how libraries market their services, programs, and events. Ms. Carpenter & Bellaire HS Library will be honored at Texas Library Association conference in 2 weeks.
