Christine Menard to Receive Community Spirit Award
Christine Menard, the executive director of the Family Pantry of Cape Cod, is being recognized for her work with the Community Spirit award presented by the Cape and Islands United Way, a nonprofit organization on a mission to improve lives by mobilizing the caring power of our communities to advance the common good on Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard, and Nantucket. Presentation of the award will be a part of the annual Power of the Purse event on Oct. 16 at the Hyannisport Club, hosted by Women United, an affiliate group of the Cape and Islands United Way. The award recognizes and celebrates women who are making a difference working in the nonprofit sector. | | Cape Rep Theatre is thrilled to share the Cape Cod premiere of Lloyd Suh's funny, poignant play, The Heart Sellers, which beautifully encapsulates the immigrant experience through the eyes of Jane, a recent transplant from Korea, and Luna, who hails from the Philippines, with humor and heart. Set against the backdrop of Thanksgiving in 1973, the story unfolds over a bottle (or two) of wine and a questionable frozen turkey, as the two women reminisce, and dream of their new lives in America, disco dancing, learning to drive, and carving out a sense of belonging in this land of opportunity. | |
