The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series is on the home stretch of the 2017 season. With only Texas, Phoenix, and Miami left on their schedule, the Go Fas Racing team is looking to catch and pass the No.34 team of Landon Cassill. The two teams are within ten points of each other, with only three races left for the No.32 team to get ahead of their competitor.
SEMA:
Matt DiBenedetto is spending the week in Las Vegas with Anest Iwata - a partner of the Go Fas Racing team and DiBenedetto. Anest Iwata is a paint equipment distributer that distributes manual and automatic spray guns, air compressors, and other accessories to the United States, Mexico and Canada. Attendees of SEMA can race against Matt in NASCAR Heat Evolution and even race as the Anest Iwata race car. Matt will be in booth 11027 with the Anest Iwata group Tuesday and Wednesday from 11am-12pm and 2-4pm each day. Matt will also be joining Kim Coon at the NASCAR display to talk about his season and his upcoming race at Texas Motor Speedway.
Last Week for the No.32 Team:
CorvetteParts.net revealed a new scheme last week - a pink and white scheme for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Matt DiBenedetto and the No.32 CorvetteParts.net / Can-Am team qualified 28th. DiBenedetto moved forward in the opening laps, running in the top-25 for quite a while until the end of the first stage. After the first stage, DiBenedetto was still running in the top-30 when smoke began entering the cockpit. Unsure of what it was, Matt brought the CorvetteParts.net Ford onto pit lane where the team discovered that a wiring harness had gone bad. Unfortunately, there was too much damage from the fire to continue. Although the race did not go as the team would have hoped, the team raised money for The Breast Cancer Research Foundation through their efforts and
helped support clinical and translational research at medical institutions worldwide.
DiBenedetto on Texas Motor Speedway:
"Texas is definitely a fast mile and a half racetrack. A lot of the speed at these big tracks comes from downforce and the ability to unload with a quick, well-balanced racecar. If we can unload with a quick Can-Am Ford, we'll be able to compete for a top-25 finish. In order to pass the No.34 team in the standings, we'll have to not only be fast, but be consistent over the last three races - and I think we can do just that. We'll have to chip away at their point lead, and Texas is a good place to get that started, especially with the speed we've been able to show at the mile and a half tracks so far this year."
Matt DiBenedetto Media Availability:
Matt will be available to the media at 2:20pm Saturday at the back of the No.32 hauler in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series garage.
Chassis Info: Crew Chief Gene Nead will be bringing chassis GFR-931 to serve as the primary car this weekend.
