Congresswoman Nydia Velázquez Celebrates Opening of LaGuardia’s New Hydroponic Research Lab
Yesterday, Congresswoman Nydia Velázquez (NY-7th District) visited campus to celebrate the opening of a new hydroponic research lab (M-237) at LaGuardia. The lab will help train tomorrow’s climate champions, like Environmental Science – Sustainable Urban Agriculture majors Rebecca Kane and Eithan David, who attended a ribbon cutting for the new lab, where tomatoes and herbs are flourishing. The lab is outfitted with equipment provided and installed by NY Sun Works, a community non-profit that aims to teach sustainability and urban farming to young people across New York City. In February 2023, Congresswoman Velázquez gave $800,000 to NY Sun Works for the installation of hydroponic labs at 20 schools throughout Queens and Brooklyn. LaGuardia was the only post-secondary school to be selected. NY Sun Works Director Manuela Zamora and members of her team attended the ribbon cutting. LaGuardia attendees included President Kenneth Adams; Dr. Dionne Miller, associate dean for academic affairs; and Dr. Preethi Radhakrishnan, professor of biological sciences and Environmental Science program director.

New Microsoft Teams is Faster and Simpler! Switch Today!
When opening Microsoft Teams, you may have already noticed the option to switch to the new Microsoft Teams client version that Microsoft began introducing this month. The new Teams version will be required for use by all users beginning after March 31. We strongly suggest you change to the new version as soon as possible. The new Teams provides a faster, simpler, and more flexible experience. It installs and loads faster so you can launch the app and join meetings more quickly, resulting in a more efficient use of your time and your device’s resources.
The switch to the new Teams is also seamless. None of your saved files or information changes. All your Teams, chats, calendar, files, etc., will remain the same, nothing is lost. The look will be new, but not significantly different from the previous version. For more information on what’s changing, visit Features that are changing in the new Microsoft Teams. If you have any issues with Teams, visit Microsoft Teams Troubleshooting. If you like, there is an option to switch back temporarily to the old version until March 31. See the following instructions.
