A note from the Dean

Dear Faculty and Staff Colleagues,

I hope you all had a relaxing holiday weekend.

Over the last two weeks, we’ve put on fabulous orientation programs for our first-year students, cheered them on at the Oxford Olympics, and officially welcomed them at Convocation, with a new pinning tradition and our beautiful candlelight ceremony (complete with a visit from Dooley!). Our second-years students helped us welcome our new class by showing their leadership and spirit across campus. While it is impossible to thank all the individuals who created a successful orientation program, I would like to express my gratitude to Campus Life, the Advising Support Center, and the Center for Pathways & Purpose. Also, a big shout-out to the Enrollment Services team for bringing in such a talented incoming class!

Warmly,

Badia

NAME: Stephanie Maddox

TITLE/DEPT: Assistant Director, SILT — Campus Life

How long have you been at Oxford?

I've been at Oxford for almost six years (three years as an RLC in Fleming Hall and almost three years as an Assistant Director in SILT). As an Assistant Director, I work with orientation, transition programs, and family programs. Most notably, I enjoy getting students and their families/supporters to chant "oxcited" as many times as I can throughout their time at Oxford College.

What do you like best about your job and about Oxford?

I really enjoy the sense of community within Campus Life. I like working with the oxcited orientation leaders and collaborating with campus partners from Oxford and Emory to support the transition to the Atlanta campus. I also enjoy exploring the trails around campus and walking around the Quad!

What is your favorite song/tv show/movie/restaurant/podcast?

My favorite artist is Taylor Swift, and my favorite TV show is Survivor.

What makes you happy or brings you joy?

Things that bring me joy include spending time with family and friends, hiking, roller skating, and traveling.

Please complete this sentence: It might surprise people to know that...

...I've seen over 50 artists in concert and have crowd surfed!

Oxford in the News
