CAMPO'S ONE SHIRT/ONE SCHOOL INITIATIVE Each and every student, teacher, administrator, and staff member was given a FREE Campo Spirit shirt last Wednesday, from the Campolindo Parents Club and DEIB Committee. These shirts were designed in partnership with the Campo Leadership class and are intended to promote the feeling of unity, belonging, and Campo Spirit among our entire Campolindo community. The spirit shirts can be worn for RedOut days, community outreach events, club, and team events and anywhere your student wants to show their Cougar Pride. Please have your student go to the office if they didn't receive a shirt or need to swap out a size. PEER TUTORING Peer tutoring is now up and running in the Counseling Center every Academy. This is an amazing program that helps your student succeed in their classes. Students can sign up in advance through Teachmore and get help from fellow students in Math, English, Social Studies, Science, World Language and more. They can also show up at the start of Academy in the Counseling Center, and get signed in by the counseling staff. 


AUHSD WELLNESS PARENT EDUCATION SERIES The AUHSD will be presenting a monthly series on a range of topics, the first of which will be Recognizing Depression, Anxiety, and Stress in Yourself and Your Child and will be on October 18Click here for more information and registration link.

CAMPO PARENTS BOOKCLUB Please join us for the fall meeting of the CPC Bookclub. The book we will be discussing is: The Parent Compass, Navigating Your Teen’s Wellness and Academic Journey in Today’s Competitive World by Cynthia Clumeck Muchnick and Jenn Curtis. Book club will meet November 9, 7:00-8:00pm, in the Campo Library. More information here.


REMINDER: CAMPO SERVICE AWARDS--KEEP TRACK OF YOUR HOURS Students who volunteer in the community may be eligible for a Service Award. Completed hours and applications will be accepted no later than April 21, 2023. There is a new online only application process this year and we are returning to the 30 hour minimum. For details, guidelines, and application information, please visit the Volunteer Service Award page on the Campo website or visit CPC Volunteer Service Award on the CPC website.

  • HOMECOMING WEEK: Theme is Breakfast: Seniors--Lucky Charms, Juniors--Froot Loops, Sophomores--Cap'n Crunch, and Freshmen--Fruity Pebbles.
  • DRESS UP DAYS: TUESDAY is "Breakfast in Bed"--wear your PJs! WEDNESDAY is "Breakfast of Champions"--wear jerseys or Campo gear! THURSDAY is "Breakfast on Zoom"--wear business on top and sweats on bottom, FRIDAY is HoCo Shirt day! 
  • EVENTS THIS WEEK: Tuesday--Tailgate at 5pm in the quad for Senior Night for Girls' Volleyball! PINK OUT! Bring cash for breast cancer awareness. Wednesday--Powderpuff at lunch at the Upper Field. Friday--Tailgate at 6pm, powder puff at half time.
  • HOMECOMING DANCE ON SATURDAY: 7:30-9:30pm, free with ASB card, $20 without, $25 for guests. Dress in whatever clothes make you feel confident!
FACULTY/STAFF SPOTLIGHT

NEW: GET TO KNOW CAMPO'S ATHLETIC DIRECTOR, RAY MEADOWS I began my high school coaching career at Campolindo and it has always held a special place in my heart. I currently teach 3 periods of World History in addition to serving as Campolindo's Athletic Director. I had the privilege of working as a social studies teacher and the head boys' water polo coach at Campolindo from 2003-2010. I left Campolindo to coach a water polo team and teach in New Zealand from 2010-2013, before returning back to California to teach and coach at De La Salle High School, prior to coming back to Campo in 2019.  Click here to read more...

NLI NATIONAL LETTER OF INTENT RECOGNITION CEREMONY - FALL

If your student athlete will be signing a National Letter of Intent this Fall and would like to be recognized in our Fall NLI 'Unofficial' Recognition Ceremony, please contact Athletic Director Raymond Meadows. More details regarding the date of the ceremony coming soon. We will also be holding a Spring NLI 'Unofficial" Recognition Ceremony for all athletes that sign laer in teh year. 


BASEBALL Please send an email to Athletic Director Raymond Meadows if your freshman student is interested in trying out for the baseball team this year. Please include the student's name and parent contact info in the email. Additionally, all Freshmen interested in playing baseball should attend the meeting in room G5 at lunch, 1:25pm, on Tuesday 10/11.

CAREER TALKS College Board’s Real Talk presents a series of career talks for black students, the last of which is on. October 18. Sometimes young people need to see someone like themselves succeed to believe they can, too. Real Talk is hosting their first set of career events this month, featuring young Black professionals in the tech, sports, and entertainment industries. More information here.

CHICO STATE UNIVERSITY VIRTUAL APPLICATION INFORMATION SESSIONS The Fall 2023 application window at Chico State has opened. Students should apply by the December 15 deadline. In these virtual sessions an admissions counselor will provide an overview of the application and answer any questions. Register here.

CAREER ASSESSMENT ACADEMIES October 19 & 21 We are hosting a 2-part Career Assessment to help students learn how to identify their career interests and research compatible jobs.  

  • Part 1, October 19: Take the career assessment and see the results
  • Part 2, October 21: Learn how to research compatible jobs, including education requirements, what the work involves, how the field is trending, salary, location, etc.  

Open to Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors. Sign up for BOTH sessions on Teachmore under Batcheller.  


COLLEGE VISITS ON OUR CAMPUS About 70 colleges have registered already; more sign up daily! These include: Loyola Univ-Chicago, Boston Univ, Univ of Oregon, Univ of Chicago, USC, Boston College, Oregon State Univ, Colorado State Fort Collins, TCU, Purdue. CAMPOLINDO WELLNESS CENTER

NEW: SENIOR WELLNESS WEEK. The Wellness Center is hosting our second annual Senior Wellness Week October 24th-28th. We know this can be a stressful time for our hardworking seniors and we want to provide them with some self-care activities and treats during brunch and lunch. Here is what we have planned so far:

  • Monday: tile painting
  • Tuesday: hot cocoa 
  • Wednesday: yoga & therapy dogs
  • Thursday: spa water & parfaits
  • Friday: raffle & celebration!

Seniors will receive a raffle ticket for every event they attend. We will be raffling off a ton of great prizes on Friday! Gift cards and goodies galore :). More specifics to come, so tell your students to follow our Instagram @campowellness for updates!


NAMI YOUTH MENTAL HEALTH SYMPOSIUM. This virtual event will be held on Thursday, October 20 from 7-8:30pm. This is for families, caregivers and educators who want to support the mental wellness of teens and young adults, recognize the signs that a young person is struggling, respond to a crisis, and talk constructively about mental health with teens and young adults. SUICIDE PREVENTION 101 FOR PARENTS The California Department of Education, Directing Change, and TeenLine are hosting a free webinar and Facebook Live event: Suicide Prevention 101 for Parents: Recognizing Signs and What to Do. This webinar will provide information about suicide prevention for parents, including warning signs for suicide, how to have a conversation with their teen, actions to take if their teen is having a suicidal thoughts, and resources. NEW: SUPPORTING ASIAN TEEN WELL-BEING FOR PARENTS/GUARDIANS If you are an Asian, South Asian, or Asian American Identifying parent/guardian, please join us for an affinity space! We will be discussing parenting teens and what family wellness looks like. How does our family of origin and culture influence our approach to mental health and parenting? Please join us for this interactive workshop on Tuesday, November 1st, 7pm, in the Campolindo Library.
