PROGRESS
Camp Chase Trail - Current PROGRESS

2/16/15:  The trail is now paved to Galloway Road - there are still "Road Closed" signs in place but people are using it.    See the News section for an extended report from Metro Parks on the trail segments under construction.

There will be a small connector between the Metro Parks segment and the City of Columbus segment near Sullivant and Georgesville.  (See map image in January's newsletter: http://conta.cc/1u7sHrF )

The best place to access the trail and park a motor vehicle is at the Trailhead in Battelle Darby Creek Metro Park 8465 Alkire Road, GIS: 39.893428, -83.215835 Google Maps Link

TRAIL NEWS
Metro Parks Update:

January 2015

Progress Report (West to East):

Battelle Darby Creek Metro Park to Galloway Rd:

Trail segment was paved in November and the contractor has some grading to complete and then the  trail will be open,    Engineering is underway to manage the RR crossing and trail crossing at Galloway Road to allow a buffer between the trail and tracks.  In the interim a fence will be placed on the West Side of Galloway Rd between the trail and tracks.

Galloway Rd to Norton Rd:

Metro Parks has cleared the entire right-of-way and began grading the section from Norton Rd. to Galloway in December.  Grading is complete and base stone is partially installed.  The plan is to have all the base stone in place and will be ready to pave when the asphalt plants open in the spring.

Norton Rd to Hall Rd:

Metro Parks will begin grading as weather permits, if weather cooperates, this segment should be done in time for some summer use.

Hall Rd: to  Sullivant Ave. (across I-270)

Contractor has all piles driven and wall panels set.  They have poured both abutments for the I-270 bridges and have worked out setting the 2 spans from rail flat cars supplied by Camp Chase RR.  Bridge setting is scheduled for sometime in February.  They are working on pouring abutments for the 360 feet of bridge parallel to the track and an additional 80 foot bridge over a 48" culvert and stream.    This is on schedule to pave and have open summer 2015
