Dr. Barbara (Barb) Mullen provided inspiring passion and energy to our OST Coalition gathering back in September. She also shared some fun and interesting stories, including anecdotes from her days growing up in Chicago and benefiting from programs supported by After School Matters, the Windy City’s OST Intermediary. She even explained how the complementary colors she was fashionably sporting, blue and orange, were perfectly in line with the theme of OST-School complementary partnerships. She went further to explain that in order to support our shared children and youth, especially those who are most vulnerable, our systems, programs, schools and efforts are in fact interdependent, and that we must work together across the day and year to maximize our impacts on children and families.
