Safety Improvement Project on Cambridge Street |

The City of Cambridge is making safety improvements on Cambridge Street. The project will include separated bike lanes, improvements for people walking, better bus service, and less street parking. Click to view the project roll plan.
We are entering a new milestone for the project: Design Feedback on Section A (Oak Street to Willow Street). Offer feedback on the plan via the Design Feedback Survey.

Transit Alert: Summer Red Line Closures |

July 2024 Red Line Closures in Cambridge: What to Know
The MBTA Red Line will experience closures from Saturday, July 13 through Sunday, July 28.
Plan ahead for your trips! Visit mbta.com/redline for the most up-to-date information.
Bluebikes:
Riders can take advantage of Bluebikes bike share to get around during the Red Line closure.
- Non-members can use code MBTAREDJULY in the "Rewards" tab of the Bluebikes app for 5 free bike unlocks during the shutdown, starting July 13.
- E-bike and lost bike fees still apply. A credit card and account is required to redeem the code.
Shuttle Buses:
Weekdays between 5:00 a.m. and 8:30 p.m.
- Instead of trains, riders can take free, accessible shuttle buses that will make all stops from Alewife to Kendall/MIT.
Weekdays after 8:30 p.m. and all day on Weekends

MassDOT will be holding a public hearing to discuss vehicle safety device requirements. There is a proposal to amend 540 CMR 4.00. This law would require large vehicles to have side guards, mirrors, and backup cameras. These regulations would apply to vehicles owned, leased, or contracted by the Commonwealth.
The hybrid public hearing will be on Friday, July 12, 2024 at 10:00 a.m.
