Camarillo, CA – Mitchell Cameron will join the City of Camarillo team on April 22, 2024, as the City’s Administrative Services Director/Chief Innovative Officer. The responsibilities and expectations that come with this newly retitled role include leveraging technology for service delivery through innovative solutions and process across the organization, including facilities and city infrastructure.
In the extensive recruitment search to fill this position, which attracted 77 applicants including some from out of the state, Mitchell’s leadership experience and strong technical skills made him the most desirable candidate to fill this critical role within the City’s leadership team.
“Mitchell recognizes the importance of aligning technology with City Council and organizational goals to reduce costs, modernize processes, and improve transparency,” stated City Manager Greg Ramirez. “I am confident that his strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated technical experience will help drive technology forward in this organization.”
He is a seasoned municipal leader and technology manager with a background in driving technology and innovation within the City of Ventura, where he most recently played a pivotal role in building a new Information Technology department as Ventura’s first Chief Technology Officer. Prior to that role, he served as Business Innovation Manager in the Finance & Technology Department. Before joining the City of Ventura, he worked for Pleasant Valley Recreation & Park District assisting with grants, capital projects, and other program and project support to the General Manager.
With his experience, Mitchell will serve as the chief architect for all citywide technology services and collaborate with external partners to expand citywide service delivery to guide the City toward becoming a technologically “Smart City.” He will be responsible for overseeing the Administrative Services Department including program development, administration, and coordination of citywide internal general operations. Areas of oversight and interdepartmental engagement include Information Systems, Facilities Management, and Fleet Maintenance.

Mitchell earned an MBA from California Lutheran University, a Master of Science in Management Information Systems from National University in San Diego, and a BA in Management from American Military University in Charleston, West Virginia. His career is distinguished by a successful tenure in the U.S. Navy as an Analyst, where he completed two operational deployments.
Mitchell resides in Camarillo with his wife and three children.
